Job Description:
Plans, directs and provides medical nutrition therapy to inpatients, outpatients and staff within the community. Assesses nutritional status and provides individualized nutrition care plans and education from the analysis of the medical record and patient information. Provides nutrition education within the organization and community.
Principle Responsibilities
- Patient Care
- Develops individualized nutrition care plans for medically unstable patients of all ages.
- Assesses need for, delivers and evaluates effect of nutrition counseling for clients of varying medical problems.
- Utilizes nutrition screens/assessment tools to address identified needs for patients.
- May require development of therapeutic plans for specialized nutrition support, including enteral and parenteral nutrition.
- Assesses needs and identifies designated resources to initiate follow-up nutrition care.
- Works in collaboration with health team members, patients and families in the care process.
- Quality Improvement
- Develops, participates in and reports quality improvement activities.
- Attends conferences and workshops.
- Incorporates current research into practice.
- Department leadership and management
- Organizes, implements and delegates department duties.
- Develops and implements policies and procedures.
- Maintains effective and timely communications throughout the department.
- Recommends space, resources and staff needs to management.
- Works in collaboration with other departments.
- Nutrition Education
- Coordinates work experiences for internship learning goals, monitors and evaluates progress.
- Provides nutrition education to hospital support groups and the community.
- Evaluates and utilizes nutrition education materials.
- Other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Science in Dietetics or Foods and Nutrition
- Dietetic internship or equivalent
- 2 to 5 years of experience as a dietitian in a hospital and/or long-term care
Licenses/Certifications
- Licensed Dietitian - Minnesota Board of Dietetics and Nutrition Practice required State of Minnesota Board of Dietetics and Nutrition Practice upon hire
- 75 hours of related education / 5 years required
- Registration by the American Dietetic Association required upon hire

- Sedentary:
- Lifting weight up to 10 lbs. occasionally, negligible weight frequently
Pay Range
Pay Range: $34.87 to $48.58 per hourThe pay described reflects the base hourly pay range. Your starting rate would depend on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, your experience, education, and the union agreement (if applicable). Shift, weekend and/or other differentials may be available to increase your pay rate for certain shifts or work.Benefit Summary
