Seagate, a leader in Storage Technology, is looking to hire an Electrical Hardware/Software Engineering Intern to join our Shakopee, Minnesota Design Center within the Electrical Hardware Engineering Organization. The Electrical Hardware Engineering Organization in Shakopee is dedicated to meeting the requirements of our customers for Seagate HDD products. Our Shakopee facility serves as the base of operations for hard drive product development. The Electrical Hardware Engineering team is focused on delivering electronics solutions encompassing printed circuit board design, critical circuit design and analysis, product integration support, technical report writing and presentation.

Our Shakopee campus is located 25 minutes southwest of Minneapolis in a setting with a rural vibe – it overlooks a horse racing track and stables, yet it has great entertainment venues close by as well. With wide-open spaces, the campus has plenty of space for running, biking, shooting some hoops or playing volleyball over lunch. If working out is your thing, the on-site fully equipped fitness center hosts wellness programs, tournaments and group workouts. Hungry? The Electrical Hardware Engineering team is focused on delivering electronics solutions encompassing printed circuit board design, critical circuit design and analysis, product integration support, technical report writing and presentation.
About The Role - You Will
- Complete a conversion of outdated software and test equipment scripts to a modern programming language (Python)
- Work with a team of experienced engineers to improve compliance testing methodology
- Be exposed to high-speed interface analysis techniques using state of the art measurement equipment including oscilloscopes, network analyzers, bit-error rate testers, arbitrary waveform generators, TDR’s (Time Domain Reflectometer), spectrum analyzers, etc.
- Assist with industry standard compliance measurement on high-speed digital interfaces
- Time and task management capabilities

- Have the ability to participate and contribute in a team environment
- Proficient written and verbal communication skills
- Experience with various programming languages including Python and C++.
- Highly desirable to have familiarity with MS Visual Basic, Excel, testing/data acquisition software Diadem and LabView from National Instruments.
- Desirable to have familiarity with basic printed circuit board design techniques including transmission line theory, RF, electrical concepts, electrical CAD and analysis tools (such as Ansys SiWave, Ansys HFSS, MatLab, HSpice, Mentor Graphics)
- Currently studying for BS or MS in Computer Science, Engineering, Math or Physics and enrolled in Fall 2024 courses
