About Our Group
We are part of Seagate’s Equipment Development Engineering organization. We develop state of the art equipment to enable low cost component assembly and test utilized in the drive factories. Our group has been designing equipment used in the assembly and testing of drive components for over 20 years. We are technology leaders in the area of nanomotion, precision measurement solutions, and automation system design and control.
About The Role - You Will
Seagate is looking for a Electromechanical Engineering Summer Intern within our Equipment Development Organization in our design center in Shakopee, MN. This position will support the design, development, launch and production of a high performance servo-mechanical test system to support Head characterization. You will not only support engineers but lead your own projects to completion.
About You
Our Shakopee campus is located 25 minutes southwest of Minneapolis in a setting with a rural vibe – it overlooks a horse racing track and stables, yet it has great entertainment venues close by as well. With wide-open spaces, the campus has plenty of space for running, biking, shooting some hoops or playing volleyball over lunch. If working out is your thing, the on-site fully equipped fitness center hosts wellness programs, tournaments and group workouts. Hungry? Seagate offers an on-site café with freshly sourced foods and specialty coffees, or if you prefer, drive to one of many restaurants just minutes away.

- Solidworks experience
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Teamwork is a core competency at Seagate, so individual must be able to work and communicate effectively with a diverse group of engineers and technicians.
- You are an individual that enjoys both hands-on activity and data analysis.
- You have considerable judgment and motivation to complete actions.
- You are expected to be able to complete tasks with minimal supervision and be able to creatively solve problems as they arise.
- You enjoy multitasking and focusing on completing numerous projects.
- Working towards a BS or MS degree in Mechanical Engineering, Physics, or equivalent.
