This position is within the Seagate Shakopee Interface Technology Development (ITD) team supporting SerDes PHY development in Seagate’s Disk Drive custom ASIC controller organization. The team collaborates with numerous functional groups across the company and the globe and is involved with PHY development process from requirements to product end-of-life.

About The Role - You Will

• Perform/design transceiver characterization testing over all the operating conditions.
• Perform testing and tuning to ensure transceiver compliance
• Design and perform tests to stress the transceiver
• Improve characterization methodology and automation processes
• Review, compare and report test results
• Become a key contributor to transceiver and ASIC development
• Learn/develop failure analysis skills
• Collaborate with people from around the world within and outside of Seagate

Your Experience Includes

• Use and understanding of high-speed oscilloscopes, BERT, logic analyzer, protocol analyzer
• Understanding of SAS, SATA, PCIe interfaces and compliance testing specifications
• Experience with signal integrity, PCB design and schematics, high speed I/O, and serial communication
• Understanding of EMC / EMI as it pertains to transceivers for reducing emissions to meet product requirement limits
• Experience with Python and C
• Knowledge of register programming and configuring transceivers.
• Optimization of transceiver performance for better product margin
• Debug and failure analysis of transceiver related issues
• Knowledge of transceiver main building blocks: CDR, CTLE, FFE, DFE, etc.
• BS degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering with 0-2 years of experience (sponsorship is not available for this position)
