PRODUCTION: Receiving Clerk - Material Handling

The material handling receiving clerk is responsible for receiving all incoming freight and cutting bar stock for the machine department. The role will also back up shipping duties such as using UPD and LTL carriers and preparing pallets for shipment.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

  • Receive all incoming freight using our SAP software
  • Sort, grade, weigh and inspect product
  • Operate forklift to move materials
  • Cut bar stock
  • Cycle counting
  • Follow safety rules and keep clean/orderly work area
  • Perform other duties as required or assigned

Shipping duties performed when needed

  • Create bill of lading
  • Ship packages domestic and international
  • Prepare skids for shipment

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Basic computer skills (ERP experience is a plus)
  • Basic math skills (standard and metric)
  • Basic knowledge of hand tools and power tools
  • Ability to follow work instructions accurately
  • Ability to do accurate work at a rapid pace
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively (written and verbal)
  • Ability to work well independently as well as with others
  • Have attention to detail
  • Ability to multi-task
  • Ability to proficiently read and write in English
  • Ability to follow all safety rules
  • Knowledge of packing, shipping, and receiving methods

  • Ability to lift up to 30-40lbs frequently
  • Ability to be on feet standing 80% of the shift
  • Ability to walk, lift, climb ladders, push, pull, and sit as needed
  • Occasional bending and twisting

  • Reports directly to the Material Handling Supervisor

Education

  • High school diploma or equivalent

Licenses, Permits, and Certifications

  • Forklift certification (Will Train)
