Lead PAT Scientist
Your Tasks And ResponsibilitiesThe primary responsibilities of the Lead PAT Scientist are to:
- Develop and implement in-line, on-line and at-line Process Analytical Technologies (PAT) for real time monitoring of biopharmaceutical upstream and downstream processes (cell culture and purification);
- Drive PAT advancements by leading projects in early (process development) and late stage (commercial production) product development and support Bayer’s next generation Cell & Gene Therapy platform with PAT;
- Collaborate with other managers, scientific experts and lead engineers;
- Represent Bayer PAT when collaborating with external partners (acquired assets/development partners and technology providers);
- Provide functional leadership to scientists and engineers as required;
- Be responsible for engaging stakeholders/end-users (internal sites and satellite sites) at various sites and aligning them on developed PAT concepts.
- Bachelor of Science with at least 10 years of experience OR Master of Science with at least 6 years of experience OR Ph.D. with at least 4 years of relevant experience in industry or academia;
- Hands-on PAT knowledge from biotechnology industry;
- Strong expertise in analytics on a wide variety of bioanalytical and biophysical methods;
- Sound statistical knowledge;
- Knowhow for biologics industry processes;
- Expertise in implementing PAT in a GMP regulated environment;
- Willingness to execute projects at remote locations with up to 20%.
- Ph.D. with at least four years of post-graduate academic and industry experience in PAT for a biotechnology setting, ideally for cell therapy processes;
- Scientific and regulatory perspectives specific to Biopharma;
- Expertise in implementation of PAT for in-line monitoring and model- based process control including qualification and validation required for GMP production;
- Strong analytical mindset and proven problem-solving skills;
- Ability to convey complex technical and scientific information in a clear and concise manner with excellent communication skills;
- Good interpersonal skills;
- Excellent project management skills;
- Result driven and able to deal with ambiguity;"
