RahrBSG is looking for a Railroad Logistics Sourcing Manager in Shakopee Minnesota. In support of long-term growth and sustainability, the Rail Logistics Sourcing Manager develops and leads the bulk rail transportation strategies and serves as the strategic leader that collaborates with Commercial, Customer Service, Supply Chain, and cross-functional teams throughout the company. The Railroad Logistics Sourcing Manager will be responsible for overseeing the strategic sourcing and procurement activities related to railroad logistics services. This role requires a deep understanding of the railroad industry, strong negotiation skills, and the ability to cultivate and maintain relationships with suppliers. It also applies analytical and quantitative methods to understand, predict, and improve bulk freight transportation processes to optimize efficiency, maintain competitiveness, and reduce costs for the company and the customer. - Develops and implements sourcing strategies for railroad logistics services, including railroad freight rates, transload operations, and railcar leasing
- Identifies and evaluates potential suppliers, negotiates contracts, and establishes strategic partnerships to ensure the best value for the organization
- Collaborates with internal stakeholders, including sales, finance, and supply chain teams, to align sourcing activities with business objectives and regulatory requirements
- Conducts market research and monitors industry trends to stay informed about changes in the railroad logistics market
- Optimizes costs and drives efficiencies in the procurement process while maintaining high standards of quality and service
- Develops and maintains a network of contacts within the railroad industry to leverage industry knowledge and insights
- Stays updated on developments in railroad regulations, safety standards, and environmental practices to ensure compliance
- Oversees private railcar fleet leases by analyzing usage metrics and adjusting fleet size as needed to meet service goals, including sourcing, pricing, and negotiating new and renewal contracts
- Acts as single point of contact and escalation point for internal and external partners for railroad-related issues and topics.
- Performs additional duties as requested that support, assist, and enhance the company’s goals and objectives
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, or related field
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in strategic sourcing, procurement, or supply chain management, with a focus on railroad logistics
- Work-related experience can replace degree requirement with 8+ years of experience in transportation/distribution.
- Valid passport for cross-border travel is required at times
- In-depth knowledge of the railroad industry, rail freight rates, transload management, and regulatory requirements
- Proven track record of successfully negotiating contracts, managing supplier relationships, and driving cost savings
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail, with the ability to analyze data, identify trends, and make data-driven decisions
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with internal and external stakeholders
- Self-motivated contributor and leader with a strong commitment to high quality results and a passion for the industry.
- Strong communication and presentation skills, with the ability to make complex ideas simple to understand

- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and familiarity with rail logistics software
