The Sr Manager Logistics Operations leads the Logistics Operations team and serves as the liaison between the E2Open LaaS, Customer Service, Warehouse, and Finance teams. This role ensures accurate levels of product is shipped according to customer order and delivery requirements as well as in the most efficient manner. Additional priorities include acting as a liaison with a variety of parties including for-hire transport companies, government agencies, storage facilities, customers, and cross functionally within BSG. As a key leader in the Logistics Department, this role leverages analytical and quantitative methods to understand, predict, and improve logistics processes to optimize efficiency and improve service for BSG and the customer.

Work Schedule and Work Environment
Monday – Friday hybrid work schedule with three days a week in office at our campus in Shakopee, Minnesota.
Day to Day Responsibilities –
- Leads BSG’s global logistics operations strategy while building and maintaining relationships with partners to ensure quality, service, and cost targets are being met.
- Responsible for shipping modes encompassing TL, LTL, parcel, imports, and bulk truck (pneumatic and hopper) shipments.
- Develops, deploys, and ensures compliance for standard work with internal and external partners, including performance management, and partner engagement.
- Leads and supports development of global transportation partner analytics and KPIs.
- Leads Logistics Operations team supporting day-to-day transportation operations management activities.
- Acts as an escalation point for partner performance issues. Researches and supports on-time delivery problem solving and performance improvements with key stakeholders and actively communicates with all impacted parties to recommend effective solutions.
- Partners with cross-functional stakeholders to drive process improvements in quality, service, and efficiency. Reviews and translates both internal and external customer requirements, prioritizes work, and establishes goals and objectives to align with and support business unit needs.
- Aligns cross functional teams within logistics, business technology, and other business unit leaders and their respective strategies to ensure greater leverage of system efficiencies.
- Creates and maintains weekly and monthly reports for senior leadership.
- Develops Logistics operations procedures and ensures effective and timely communication of processes and procedures and recommends additional training to support and achieve improved logistics metrics and KPIs.
- Analyzes logistics operations methods and processes and makes needed adjustments to effectively deliver on assigned targets.
- Develops contingency plans to mitigate potential material shortages and minimize business disruptions.
- Participates in on-going educational opportunities and stays abreast of the industry by studying professional publications, maintaining industry networks, and participating in professional organizations.
- Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned to support the company and its operational needs.
Preferred Experience and Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree.
- 7+ years of experience in transportation and distribution.
- 4+ years of experience leading transportation and logistics teams.
- Work related experience can replace degree requirement with 8+ years of experience in transportation/distribution.
- Experience in applying knowledge of the motor carrier industry.
- Ability to execute logistics strategies and demonstrate effective decision-making and problem-solving.
- Proven analytical, critical thinking, and complex problem-solving skills with the ability to adjust to business changes and immediate needs.
- Strong communication and presentation skills with the ability to make complex ideas simple to understand.
- Proven ability to understand and apply the basic principles, practices, and economics of distribution and logistics.
- Strong leadership skills to train and motivate a team of logistics personnel; providing coaching and support to enhance their skills and knowledge.
- Recognizes the value in an efficient order-to-cash process and actively participates in each stage from order, to storage, to shipment, to delivery.
- Proven track record of applying operations experience and general distribution and logistics knowledge to establish best practices and continuous improvement, with a focus on implementing cost effective process alternatives.
- Ability to work independently and prioritize duties with a strong sense of urgency; self-directed to accomplish assignments and meet deadlines.
- Demonstrated ability to influence, persuade, and negotiate to ensure effective business partnerships.
- Experience with global transportation or warehousing rate negotiations.
- Strong collaboration and team building skills across a global organization to develop long term strategic relationships and alliances with key internal stakeholders.
- Proven ability to interact and effectively communicate with executive management and all levels of the organization related to operational changes and strategic initiatives.
- Strong knowledge of domestic and global supply chain systems and processes, including planning, manufacturing, procurement, and trade.
